Import Regulation and Distribution Essay All products brought into Canada are exposed to duties. For bringing in aroma pens from France, as a matter of first importance, there must be an enlisted organization in Canada which can import legitimately. CBSA, Canada Border Services Agency, has featured different strides for bringing of products into Canada. It demands that the organization must apply for a â€Å"Business Number,† which is enrollment for an import-send out record with the CRA, Canada Revenue Agency. Further, CBSA recommends that another enlistment is required for the GST, Goods and Services Tax. This GST is collected on the majority of the products that are brought into Canada, with special case to merchandise imported under NAFTA, North American Free Trade Agreement. Since aroma pens go under the classification of aromas and beauty care products, it gets fundamental to consider the additional use because of the tax for bringing in from an assembling nation other than the USA (for our situation, France). Further, these taxes will likewise shift with the elements of the aroma utilized in the imported pens. Since, the scent pens made by the French producer Sensrise, have diverse natural product, oil and chocolate aromas, it tends to be derived from the CBSA tax plan that the duties will likewise differ. As indicated by the IMMR, International Market Research Report from Industry Canada, import of fragrances from the USA represent 70% of Canada’s absolute import of these items, while France accounts just 12% of Canada’s all out imports. Additionally, Cosmetic Business (2003) announced that it is likewise compulsory to present a Cosmetic Notification Form, CNF, to Product Safety Bureau of Health Canada. Further, it tends to be deduced from the report that it is the duty of the merchant in Canada to guarantee that the scent pens must agree to the prerequisites of three enactments: The Food and Drug Act, The Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act, and The Canadian Broadcasting Act. Coordinations and Distribution Freight charges will be exacted for the load conveyance of pressed containers of scent pens as per the current rates, which would rely upon the method of transportation: ocean or air, the weight, the volume, and whether dispatched as a solitary holder or by imparting to other payload. The scent pens imported from France can be sold and dispersed in the goal market of Vancouver through different channels. As indicated by the IMMR, about 85% of the deals of beautifiers and toiletries to Canadian purchasers are through retail channels like medication stores, departmental stores, mass merchandisers and food stores. A Google search records a portion of the scent merchants serving the retail showcases in Vancouver. †¢ Distributors: The significant scent merchants serving the Vancouver region include: o Cosmolane, which are merchants for brands like Orlane, Annayake and Rubis o Scorpio, which are wholesalers for Diesel, Emporio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and to worldwide inflight retail advertise o Globex, which are wholesalers for Gucci, Dolce Gabanna and Kenzo o Charmei Marketing Corp. furthermore, Town Distributors are additionally in the aromas dissemination business It must be referenced that web based business can likewise be a viable direct showcasing procedure to take into account the web sharp shoppers. In any case, the IMMR cautions that the shopper would in any case need to make good on Canadian charges and customs obligations if the estimation of the postal or messenger import surpasses the greatest admissible worth. In view of the above primer examination, it tends to be reasoned that the French maker of scent pens, Sensrise would require an extensive exploration to devise a viable advertising methodology for selling its imaginative and appealing aroma pens to the Canadian customers. CAD/USD Exchange Rate

The Canadian dollar has fundamentally refreshing against the U. S. dollar since the start of 2000. The CAD/USD conversion standard (cash in USD) expanded from 0. 686 to 1. 015 as of March 18, 2011. There was a pattern of CAD gratefulness in 2003-2008, trailed by a quick devaluation in the second 50% of 2008. Since the start of 2009, CAD has risen pointedly and has been exchanging about at standard with USD throughout the previous two years. The ongoing CAD thankfulness was brought about by various factors and lead to certain financial outcomes, which are talked about straightaway. Reasons for the Canadian Dollar Appreciation Energy about the Canadian dollar in the most recent years can be clarified by inward factors, for example, execution of Canadian economy and financing costs, and outside variables, for example, product costs and shortcoming of the U. S. economy. Territory of Canadian economy. Canada has been rapidly recuperating from the ongoing downturn. For the year 2010, genuine GDP grew 3. 1%, following a decay of 2. 5% in 2009. Solid economy makes Canada an appealing objective for financial specialists who look for secure returns. This raises the interest for the Canadian money and, in this manner, pushes the conversion scale upward. This contention is upheld by the swapping scale vacillations in the above diagram. The Canadian dollar was ascending as the economy recuperated in the late 2009. Condition of the U. S. economy. Ascend in CAD/USD swapping scale can be to a great extent credited to devaluation of the U. S. dollar. The U. S. dollar has verifiably been a sheltered venture focus for some financial specialists. In any case, presently this circumstance is changing and interest for the money is falling. The U. S. economy has been confronting genuine challenges in the ongoing years. The country’s exchange deficiency was nearly $500 billion of every 2010, a 33% expansion from 2009. The U. S. s likewise the world biggest borrower with a $4,453 billion of remote obligation. Powerless economy and high vulnerability are dismissing financial specialists from the American dollar, which is upheld by its deterioration against other significant monetary standards. Ware costs. As Canada is an enormous maker and exporter of crude materials, the Canadian dollar is emphatically influenced by item costs. Numerous product costs, particularly gold and copper, have been rising as of late, making the related businesses increasingly beneficial and fortifying the Canadian economy. Solid economy, thusly, pulls in more speculator, and the Canadian dollar acknowledged because of expanded interest. Loan cost differentials. The U. S. Government Reserved has brought down the loan cost to current 0. 25% since 2008 so as to animate the monetary development. Canada right now has a higher loan fee of 1% and in this way draws in more financial specialists for its momentary resources. Interest for the Canadian dollar increments and squeezes the conversion standard. Results of the Canadian Dollar Appreciation Effect on exchange. The conversion standard importantly affects Canadian exchange execution, particularly with its biggest exchanging accomplice, the U. S. The Canadian economy altogether depends on its fare action, however more grounded Canadian dollar makes the country’s sends out progressively costly to outsiders and can diminish the exchanging volume. As per Statistics Canada, fares to the U. S. fell in 2009 by 36. 4%. Fares at that point expanded marginally in 2010, yet at the same time the sum was around C$73. 6 billion under the 2008 level. To keep their fares from falling and keep their piece of the pie, Canadian organizations need to bring down their cost and penance some benefit. Notwithstanding, decrease in fares ought not be ascribed distinctly to the cash appreciation. The U. S. prudent wellbeing and exchange understandings likewise influence the exchanging action between two nations. On the opposite side, Canadian shippers profit by the money appreciation. Canadian makers can obtain materials, apparatus and gear at a lower cost, which prompts expanded capital venture and profitability development. Accordingly, solid money is unsafe to exporters and valuable to merchants. The dollar gratefulness diminishes Canadian fare and builds imports, which contrarily influences the exchange parity and lower GDP’s development. Be that as it may, lower import costs balance negative results of fare decay, and the all out impact of the money thankfulness gets quieted. Impact on enterprises and regions. Not all enterprises are influenced uniformly by the cash appreciation. Makers that intensely rely upon fares of their creation are influenced the most. Such businesses incorporate ranger service, transportation hardware, and apparatus. Imported data sources, be that as it may, ought to likewise be considered while surveying the complete impact of the appreciation. Ventures that utilization high imported substance in their creation are less harmed by the rising dollar. For instance, transportation hardware industry profoundly relies upon send out, however it additionally has high proportion of imports to creation and can benefit from less expensive imports. Unexpectedly, enterprises that vigorously depend on sends out yet utilize low remote substance underway, for example, ranger service, are influenced most antagonistically. A similar rationale applies to Canadian territories. Profoundly send out arranged areas, for example, Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia are impacted essentially by the money appreciation. Impact on joblessness. Rising Canadian dollar makes work costs nearly higher and increment the absolute creation costs in send out situated enterprises. Net revenue falls, and producers decline their work power. They likewise include more hardware and gear as the imported capital become increasingly alluring because of the acknowledging dollar. For instance, in 2010, producing division encountered lost 37,000 positions contrasted with 2009. This lessening in business can be somewhat clarified by the more grounded dollar. Impact on efficiency. More grounded Canadian dollar can positively affect the country’s profitability. Efficiency significantly influences the country’s expectation for everyday comforts. Improved profitability brings about higher yield, benefits, compensation and, inevitably, the way of life. As conversion standard expands, Canadian yield turns out to be generally less serious in universal markets, and local organizations begin to lose their benefits. Rivalry among makers gets progressively exceptional, and organizations attempt to hold their benefits by expanding their profitability through interest in increasingly proficient hardware and gear. Companies’ money to work proportion ascends because of lower cost of imported gear, and expanded utilization of capital prompts improved efficiency over the long haul. With lower swapping scale, Canadian firms are progressively productive and have more cash for capital speculation, yet with more grounded dollar, imported capital and materials become generally less expensive. Then again, higher conversion scale makes Canada less appealing for remote direct speculation due to generally higher work costs. The degree of this impact is restricted, yet the nation despite everything loses potential profitability gains. It is significant for Canada to build its profitability and relative intensity for the since a long time ago run reinforcing of the economy so as to make the impacts the cash gratefulness less extreme. To close, the energy about the Canadian dollar brought about by various elements considerably affects the country’s exchange balance, ventures, business and efficiency. Be that as it may, these causes and outcomes ought not be considered in segregation yet rather reliantly, and basics, for example, monetary execution of Canada or the U. S. ought to be considered.

Figuer1: The example of unfit display Secondly, â€Å" the excellence of the picture leaves some space to be desired in low light situations, such as motion blur and underprivileged dynamic range†, says by a famous photographer who works in fashion industry (Is Your Fashion Brand on Instagram, 2011). Figure 2: the photo under low light situation Source from: http://fashionscollective. com/FashionAndLuxury/04/is-your-fashion-brand-on-instagram/ Thirdly, even some social mediums ease the spread of news, but also open opportunity for new forms of spam (Benevenuto et al. , 2009). The spammers may target on some heated topics, and making the URL linked to this topic redirects the users to some completely irrelevant pages. It can be risky for losing brand reputation, or even on the blacklist. In general, what nstagram has done in the previous two years has been remarkably impressive, but only two areas they should have done better. It is hard to get on the popular page on instagram, so the new users who have fewer followers and less â€Å"liked† clicks would get less chance to be discovered. Also instagram doesn’t support any special account for brand only owners. For the next version of instagram, I would like if it can facilitate the startup of new business groups regardless of the popularity among exiting users.A recommendation area can be built up for those new joined users, and it also can be categorized as â€Å"fashion brands†, â€Å"fascinating food† to expedite the entry for those new users into the instagram world, also making it easier for the fans to discover. Instagram align with Marketing Every individual image that has being processed on instagram can be considered as an immediate advertisement for the product that being photographed. By having users define why they want the item, consumers are basically writing their own sales copy (Parker, 2012).So instagram can be regarded as a perfect marketing tool for branding and brand outstretch, enabling the brands socially participating into the market and exploiting to their maximum potenti al. As a fascinating social platform, the functions of instagram can be easily learned and shared, also building up an intimate community that allows businesses to gain new potential customers and enhance marketing penetration by providing a widely accessible stage. According to the chart (see figure 3 below) provided by instagram’s main website, an increasing number of companies are finding the convenience and effectiveness in using Instagram to generate interaction with users, create popularity and publicity, and also constructing their content-based marketing strategies. It provides enough spotlights for all the emerging products, and presents them on the center stage appealing to the prospective audiences (Muyabayashi, 2012,April 5).Figure 3: The number of Instagram Uploads and Users What’s more, using instagram can reduce the financial cost as saving all the printing or postage charges. The Internet provides global access to all customers, and ease of all the content distribution (Dann Dann, 2011). Lastly, as most people are using this social networking service to post pictures and follow the posts of others, this provides enough sufficient evidence and reasoning for concentrating marketing efforts (Kirk, 2012).Sharing the ph otos in this artistic and inventive way can be beneficial for visually presenting the product. In the photo’s description, highlight the key word, craft a theme, tag the brand, or link up with other widely held hash tags could be extremely useful. In a nutshell, the main tools of instagram can assist the marketers are hash tag and geographic-tagging service. The utility of hashtags can be effective in gaining audience. With shared hash tags, it can sort and bring together Internet resources across websites (Chang, 2010).For those new business owners who only start with fewer fans, to achieve the purpose of increasing their publicity, they can check on instagram that who have been taking pictures at their place by using hash tag-searching service, if no one does, then they can host a campaign or contest to get things started. The function of geographic-tagging services of Instagram not only allows the followers to map the locations of the photos being taken, but also offers the chance for the owners of the locations to create an interactive platform or campaign for developing their brand community.A great example is the well-known Hollywood venue â€Å" the Roxy†, the owner, Nic Adler, always noticing the music lovers tag themselves at #theroxy, but there is no direct theroxy community link to it, so he creates the venue @theroxy, for gathering all the fans and at present now has over 7400 followers making it a really good promoting tool for any of their shows and relevant products (Instagram Blog, 2011). Figure4: The roxy on Instagram It also works really well in the fashion industry. By posting the photos of their staff wearing the latest line of clothing or on-sale clothes, forever21 gained a high level of likes, comments, followers and engagement, which unquestionably captivates the audiences of their fashion brand. Figure5: The foever 21 on Instagram Speaking of the marketing theory and practice, instagram is currently under the category of social media belonging to the electronic marketing in the form of marketing over IP and mobile marketing.Instagram is a new intermediary website that provides a platform allowing many sellers (brand or business owner) to connect with many customers (Dann dann, 2011). It has a high level of message tailoring, creativity, and interactive capability to â€Å"attract† the customer to their virtual â€Å"door step†. It can reach specific groups by creating popular hash tags, and the measurement of successes is simply by the number of direct feedback. What’s more, this marketing strategy is not costly at all while providing high frequency exposure.Instagram can fully utilize advertising appeals, by stating impressive informational, emotional, fear or humorous image contents to gain attention. As Stafford and Day assert that â€Å" Effectiveness of message appeal type is a function of the product type being advertised† (1995, Number 1). Instagram can be taken as â€Å"Viral Marketing†, as Wilson stated that â€Å" any strategy that encouraging individuals to transfer a marketing message to others, or creating the potential growth in message’s exposure and influence, can be defined as Viral marketing (2000).Moreover, instagram functions well in real time, and it can capture whatever is happening currently in the business and expose this to the customers. It plays a role as an instant visual twitter to highlight the small detail, so it can be used as a great tool for in-the-moment marketing or visual market (Kirk, 2012). Butter Lane Cupcakes is a good example. Taking photos of their lip-smacking cupcake and their special menu, and posting on instagram daily. The customers can be easily informed just by swipe the slide button to have a look, they also c an leave comments and ask questions under the photo. The position of instagram in its product life cycle deserves to be mentioned. Roger stated that â€Å"early adopter is an early customer of a given company, product, or technology (1962). When instagram first launched it attracted an abundant of early adopters which including big brands like Starbucks and Burberry, and now has over 30 million users (Harbison, 2011). Being a relatively young product, instagram is still on the growth stages of its life cycle as most of the users of Instagram are early adopters. So building awareness and interest in the mass market, maximizing market share, developing product extension before competitors arrive is still going to be priority task. The uniqueness of instagram becomes obvious as it can help the brand owners market their products in an innovative and effective way. Excellent filter effects and quick-shared functions are the main unique features in instagram possessing; also the marketing activities based on these features can result in unex pected promoting outcomes. Regular interactive activity is a really effective way to build followings.A widely known activity that commonly is used on instagram is asking the customers to take pictures of them using the shops products and uploads the photos on instagram to win a coupon or prize. For example, The Brooklyn bowling club once created an activity of taking a photo of customers wearing their bowling shoes and tagging #brooklynbowl for two free entry tickets (Instagram blog, 2011). This is a wonderful way to make intimate connection and interaction with the fans, promoting the brand, and building good memories based on photos. Figure 6: the Brooklybowl on InstagramConclusions and Recommendation Instagram provides people with a free space to share the trivial but intimate moments of our routine life in an innovative and creative way. As I mentioned above, the professional filters, geo-tagging capabilities are more developed than other mobile applications. The growing number of registered users is th e sound proof for instagram being a growing community that connects engaging people together while facilitating the market development. By simply capturing, filtering and sharing, the identity of the brand has already been heighted. In summary, for exploiting Instagram to the full, using it wisely and strategically is indispensable. The users should take photos of product in a creative and different way, highlighting the innovative function of the product, keep the caption creative, and holding online activities regularly, which are crucial for building up the engagement and involvement with the customers. What’s more, take the customer’s feedback into serious consideration, put the useful comments into a database for later product development, and reward the best customers. Also, follow the people in the same industry and get an interactive connection with them, let other brand owners and their followers get to know you (Eridon, 2011). All of these will indisputably contribute to enhance the business ’s presence on the Internet, also the reputation and the number of brand admirers. References Cha ng, H. (2010). My Perfect Wedding free essay sample

My Perfect Wedding Christmas Day is usually a holiday mainly observed to commemorate the birth of Jesus. For non Christianity followers it is a day to exchange gifts, decorate houses and for Santa Clause. For me, Christmas of two thousand eight changed my life forever. This is the day my now to be husband kneeling down on one knee, asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. His proposal was short sweet and sincere. Without a doubt I gracefully replied â€Å"Yes, I will. † With many new emotions racing throughout my mind, I couldn’t help to wonder, when our big day would be. Setting a date was the beginning of our long wedding adventure. There was many offers given to me from family and friends to help with the planning but I refused. This was my wedding, the day I dreamed of; I wanted to plan it solo. We will write a custom essay sample on My Perfect Wedding or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page May 30th of the following year seemed so far way that I started off slow with my wedding planning process. I was unaware couples usually take two years to plan this event and decided to have it held in a few months. My husband agreed to stand out of the way as I managed most of the major decisions. He did not mind I chose the color pink for the entire bridal party to wear, or that I chose to have pink flowers and pink table covers. He expected nothing less; only wanted me to be happy, and that I was. Shortly after realizing I would only have six months to plan our wedding, my anxiety came into play. Finding a venue and reserving our date needed to be complete. After viewing various halls and grand hotels, there was one in particular that caught my attention. From the moment I walked in, I knew I would have it. I was memorized by the main focus point of the room; a ginormous crystal chandelier that took up the entire ceiling. The dim candlelight filled the room with a glow and it was nothing less than perfect.Mirrors covered the walls surrounding the dance floor. All I could imagine was dancing with my new husband as we gazed into them. My initial appointment with the bridal consultant here at Genettis, is where things began to get tense. She read off a list that seemed never ending. I was informed, I needed flowers, center pieces, a cake, music, a photographer, favors, a seating chart along with a booklet of papers I needed to fill out and have returned to her a month is advance. I had to choose what my guests would eat, where they would it and what type of champagne and Horderves to have served. I was extremely overwhelmed but figured I can do this. How hard can it be? It was for only one day. Well that day turned into the biggest event I have ever experienced in my entire life. As I look back on those stressful months now, I wish I did accept help from others. Now that there was a venue, I needed a photographer. I did some searching and before I knew it I found two that agreed to shoot our wedding from the moment we awoke until the sun came down. Next was the choosing of flowers.I had no idea what kind of flowers were in season, what was expensive and what was not. Needless to say, we spent a few thousand dollars on them. Music was a main priority for this event. There must be a DJ so my guests would be entertained and of course so my husband and I can have our first dance. Luckily, an old friend of mine contacted me willing to host our party. With numerous circumstances happening, dress shopping for myself was limited. I was overly exhausted due to the large amount of duties that were involved with planning a wedding, I easily forgot about myself. There was my dress, hair, nails needed to be done, makeup and shoes. Eventually I found a moment to gather some of my bridesmaids to participate in shopping for this big day. What a hassle and a royal mess this turned out to be! No one came to an agreement on what they would wear, or how their hair would be done. This opportunity is where me, Bridezilla took charge. I choose their look; long pink gowns with their hair pulled back and silver open toe high heels. All the while I was glancing at several dresses. I tried on a total of four gowns. The first dress I slipped into was the one.The way the sweetheart top fit tightly against my slim waist and the bottom puffed out over my arms was just like in my dreams. The only burden was the dress ended up being very large. There was a lot of material which made it heavy. With that said, I bought another dress for the reception. I called it my party dress. Finally after searching the internet and local stores I found the right glamorous invitations. Each one needed to be printed, sealed and sent to approximately two hundred guests. The cards printed beautifully however they acquired days and effort to get it to my expectations. After many hours of aggravation, sleepless nights and lots of stamps later, the invitations wrapped in bows and glitter were ready to be mailed. Once I started to receive the reply’s back, I had a rough estimate to how many guests would be attending. Now it was time to start the party favors. Here is where my husband stepped in to help. We had to wrap white almonds in silk, drop each one individual into mini champagne glasses and tie a little pink note to each one using pink ribbon. During this process I broke down. My husband took over and let me have a day of relaxation and pampering all to myself. After almost going balled from pulling my hair out with all the tasks and duties required to have a big fabulous wedding, I was starting to regret not asking and accepting help from others. In the end, our big Wren Wedding was a huge success. All of our guests were delighted with the food, and the music collection to fit all types of different people. Our five tier cake was grand. A vanilla, white rose cream that rested upon an admirable white piano. The scent of roses filled the entire room. Each table had a center piece with one single candle smothered in pink flowers. It was my dream come true. The soft music, candlelight dinner, roses, and everyone in elegant gowns under a huge chandelier. The setting and mood came together perfectly. All of my stress was eliminated when I looked into my husbands eyes and he glowed in amazement of all that I accomplished in a total of six months. Although my wedding turned out to be perfect and a wonderful experience, I did not get to enjoy the planning aspect of the wedding process. My stubbornness blocked others out from helping me. I tell my husband, the next time I get married, Ill be sure to ask for help.

Ethics of Memory Erasing Treatment Essay Example

Ethics of Memory Erasing Treatment Essay Example Ethics of Memory Erasing Treatment Essay Ethics of Memory Erasing Treatment Essay Whether it is postgraduates memories in a s older returning home from war, or a womans terrifying memory of her assault and rape at the e hands off violent an, many people live with horrible memories that they would benefit greatly from erasing. For much of history, this has only been a fantasy. However, recent developments have made this a possibility. While this technology could, and should, be used to help people us offering from postgraduates stress heal, it should be closely controlled. A study condo acted recently at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has s hon. that memories, even longer ones, can be erased through the use of HADDAM NIH option treatment (Tractor 1). HADDAM, Histories Decelerate 2, is a protein that plays a role in converting hornwort memories in the hippopotamus to longer memories stored in the cortex (MIM 1). Once the memory moves from the hippopotamus to the cortex, it is firmly inning aimed in the brain and is very hard to address using traditional psychotherapy technique uses. Howe ever, by inhibiting this protein through psychoactive drug treatment, memories can be transfer De from the cortex Strongman 2 back into short term memory in the hippopotamus (Tractor 1). Once the me Or-y is in the hippopotamus, it can be treated using traditional psychotherapeutic technique s to remove the negative association of the memory. HADDAM inhibitor drugs are currently FDA approved for use in certain cancer treatment techniques, making their approval for clinical trial s, and hopefully eventual market release much easier (Tractor 1). If everything goes well, these drugs could have the ability to remove traumatic, painful memories permanently from the min d. This ability would be very helpful in the treatment of sufferers of postgraduate c stress disorder. Soldiers returning from war often have terrible traumatic memories from their time in the service, and these memories can be triggered by activities, sounds, and eve ants in normal, everyday life. Living with postgraduates stress can be very difficult, as the debit litigating memories can be triggered at any time. Similarly, victims and witnesses Of horror rift crimes such as rapes, assaults, and murders can suffer the same postgraduates memories. According to the Mayo Clinic, sufferers of postgraduates stress disorder experience flashbacks, nightmares, severe emotional distress, depression, mood swings, and angry outbursts (OPT SD 1). These symptoms lead to a severe decrease in quality of life for sufferers, and often r ins the lives of those affected by it. Because postgraduates stress disorder can be so destructive to the lives of the SSE it affects, it would be the perfect target for HADDAM inhibition treatment. While s mom may argue that it would be unethical to artificially alter memory, in the context of those s offering from this disease, any moral ambiguities about removing the memories is far outweigh De by the drastic improvement in the quality of life that it would bring about for those affected. Removing these Strongman 3 memories, which cause legitimate medical suffering, is not only permissible, it would be required in cases Of severe postgraduates stress disorder. However, while the argument for use of this treatment for those severely fee acted by postgraduates stress is easily made, it should not be a treatment that is easily available to the public. While everyone has certain memories they would like to erase, almost all of these bad memories do not rise to the level of having a severe, negative impact on a per sons quality of life. While it would seem ideal for everyone to have only positive memories, the is would not be conducive to living a true life experience. While bad experiences, and the unplug asana memories they form, can seem unbearable at times, they are vital in growing as a peers n. While negative experiences arent anyones favorite, completely removing them from life expo eeriness would be dyspepsia. Like in Lois Lowry The Giver , living without any negative memories would be like living life in black and white. As with most things in life, the ethical nature of these situations is a dynamic, fluid one. Deciding which memories have a sufficiently detrimental effect on the suffer deeds quality of life to make memory erasure ethical is a very subjective process. Firstly, the me ROR would have to have been caused by an extraordinarily traumatic event, such as being involve De in a roadside ambush in Afghanistan or being a victim of sexual assault. The victim would al so have to be medically diagnosed with severe postgraduates stress disorder, and would ha eve to demonstrate that the condition caused a significant detriment to his or her quality of life. O once all of these conditions could be demonstrably met, the person would be eligible to receive e the memory erasing treatment. This process would inevitably be long but would hopefully prevent the Strongman 4 treatment from being abused by those looking to escape small problems thro ugh medication, and would help to prevent abuse. Memory erasure treatment could be a lifesaving innovation for those people suffering from postgraduates stress disorder and its myriad of debilitating symptoms. It could prevent the countless suicides that occur each year as a result of the suffering caused by postgraduates stress disorder. However, it could also be abused by those looking to escape the SMS all problems of the world through prescription drug abuse.

Great Power Diplomacy in the Twentieth Century Essay

Great Power Diplomacy in the Twentieth Century - Essay Example Globalization in the twentieth century fueled the development of favorable environmental conditions which inevitably led to the expansion of international trade of goods and manpower services. On the other hand, the geopolitical polices of the twentieth century allowed the establishment of national and imperial control over the process of globalization. Therefore, globalization coupled with effective geopolitical policies shaped the great power diplomacy of the twentieth century. The development of great power diplomacy in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century was limited to European countries. The reason for this limitation was due to the centralization of power in Europe. The European countries were and still are in many ways the great powers of the world which promoted the permeation of diplomacy throughout the world. The Second half of the century that followed the Second World War can be legitimately regarded as the great era of balance of power diplomacy in the twentieth century. The balance of diplomacy was essential in order to reduce the increasingly apocalyptic implications another war could have on the stability of the world. Great Britain wanted to take advantage of this time and play an instrumental role in brokering the exact location where the balance of power would lay. However, British dream was threatened from the very beginning due to the rise of two super powers i.e. The United States of America and The Soviet Union. Moreover, Britain did not posses the natural affinity with growing economy and the need for political closeness between previous enemies, which was simply essential for the development of balance of power. 3 I felt the need to briefly discuss the balance of power because it is critically related to diplomacy and it can be safely stated that the mothers of Great Power Diplomacy of the twentieth century were the need for globalization, geopolitical policies, and balance of power. I would now throw light over the real meaning of the word diplomacy. Diplomacy can have different meanings in different countries around the world because the dimensions of the word are determined and influenced by political policies of a country. In general, the meaning of diplomacy is a tool for the promotion and implementation of foreign policies of a country. The most important institute in modern society is, indeed, diplomacy. The process of Diplomacy comprises numerous underlying steps including gathering information, clarifying intentions, and engendering good will. All such processes require stability and peace within a nation. The essence of diplomacy is peace and stability within a society. Therefore, one of the numerous obstacles faced by the great power diplomacy in the nineteenth century had been the political and economical instability of the world. Thus, i n the twentieth century, it became necessary for the great powers to establish peace in order to diffuse the growing tension within the European countries. The diffusion of anger and tension was necessary to eliminate the prospect of another war. I believe that the single most important event which significantly changed the Great Power Diplomacy in the twentieth century were the Locarno Treaties of 1925. The treaties promoted the development of

Precis for two articles or write a good topic you think Essay

Precis for two articles or write a good topic you think - Essay Example The most vulnerable areas can be acquired and be managed at a cheaper cost compared the involved costs for all reserve regions. This is because of lower prices in the regions and the total cost for the threatened regions is estimated at $ 4 billion as compared to the total $ 30 billion for protection of all reserve areas. Protecting the areas is also feasible because most of the pressure to the threats is external. This means that change in domestic policies by the affected nations can facilitate protection. Demands by external forces such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund are examples of the forces that enhance irresponsible domestic activities to degradation of biodiversity. The institutions promote depletion of resources. The authors also recommend centralization of conservation research and management centers because of the success that such centrally managed institutions have achieved in developed countries. An integrated approach of protection and minimization o f harm is recommended as a solution in the environment where information on biodiversity and involved threat is available but the society has still failed to protect the environment from degradation. The article therefore offers a concern and immediate need for environmental conservation with hope of success (Pimm, et. al. 2207, 2208). The authors suggest possible extinction in the contemporary world because of the suspected interference with the environment whose adverse effects to biodiversity can be compared to previously five extinctions over the past 540 million years. Human activities whose effects include killing of biotic factors and variation of climate and habitats cause this and recovery is likely to take millions of years. Even though historical data, from fossils, and contemporary data are however biased and inaccurate and can misinform positions on extinction, a mass decrease in number of species, 75

Economy of the United States Before During and After World War Ii Essay Example for Free

Economy of the United States Before During and After World War Ii Essay They were also encouraged to ration their food and gas, and often grew Liberty Gardens. Unfortunately, World War II also made the American Government used to relying on deficit spending (government spending of borrowed money), causing economic problems that still linger today. Thats all I have. Hope it helps! Everything listed above is definatly true to a point, Im a history major who has to answer this question for an exam later this week so I thought Id help add some more information for the people who are looking WWII was an expensive war, it would cost $304 billion just to finance it. For this reason the governmnet pushed war bonds which encouraged common people to help support the war both with their money and with their hearts. From the get go the war was marketed to the common people, proven by the use of popular movie stars in the promotion of War fund-raising and compliance with governmnet measures. After pearl harbor, the American people were ready to pour everything they had into the war effort. Women donated thousands of tons of aluminum cooking supplies to help build planes though it was later found that only virgin aluminum was good enough for aircraft and so their pots and pans were melted down and sold back to them as pots and pans. In the first months of the war Washington was a mess, and mobilization was slow. This is because our governmnet is not made to act swiftly, it was designed to take time and thought before any decision can be made. Scrap drives were unorganized and so were the efforts of the common people. Those who could not physically join the armed forces wanted to know what they could do to help but the governmnet expected little more from them than the purchasing of war bonds and for them to practice conservation of goods. Other items which were recycled included bone and fats which were used in making explosives and other materials. One of the greatest failures of American govenmnet was the policies which did not encourage the full use of all of the American people. While Rosie the Riveter posers might make it seem that women were begged to help in factories, the truth is that Americans tried to keep the women home for as long as possible before labor shortages around 1943 made it nessisary for factories to stop policies of discrimination. Comming out of the Depression, America had 9 million men that needed jobs. Each and every one was employed before women and minorities were given a chance to go to work. Even more difficult than the position of minorities was that of married women, especially those with the men of their families fighting overseas. America had been progressing socially as a nation under FDR, but his social reforms had taken a back seat to the war effort. Day care was almost non-existant, and where it was it was impossible to afford. Many stores also chose to keep the same hours they had during peace time and so women who worked late had a hard time getting the items they needed. Married women who had husbands in the workforce were also discriminated against because a common attitude was that the man should be the sole bread-winner of a household and children would be denied proper care if their mothers worked. Many goods that people took for granted disapeared, and with more money than they had seen in years the American public had little to spend it on. Gasoline was rationed and in many cities Sunday driving was banned, those who violated the laws had their gas coupon books taken away. The decrease in driving worked both to save gasoline and to put many new business, which depended on drive-in coustomers, to fail. Most people were given a card that allowed them 2 gallons of gas per week, with unrestricted gas reserved for emercency vehicles, police officers, and a few unscrupulous congressmen. Meat was also rationed at 2lbs per person per week which was very difficult for some people to live with. Conservation and the war effort also found its way into popular fasion. Durring the war shoes could only be found in limmited colors (i. e. 4 shades of brown, and black) and clothes were not allowed to be made with any more material than was absolutly nessisary, pleats, ruffles and other embelishments were thrown out for the durration. (This is one of the reasons why short skirts and bare-backed dresses were all the rage). A black market of rationed goods and consumer goods (such as sheets) was strongly revived during this period, but was not so pervasive as to undermine the system. With money burning holes in their pockets, Americans turned to the entertainmnet industry, which with its glamourous actors and fantastical stories, helped to distract the public from their problems. Also, the governmnet had its own idea about what Americans should do with their extra money, during the war the income tax was introduced to suppliment GI spending and has been with us ever since. One thing I would like to correct from what is stated above is the idea that minorities gained rights as a result of the economic boom and the war effort. What happened is that minorites began to actively fight for their rights after WWII. Women did not want to be thrown out of their positions after the men came home from the war, they liked the freedom of having their own income and enjoyed doing something other than cooking and cleaning. African-Americans also were feircly discriminated dirring this time. It would not be until after the death of FDR that the new president Harry Truman would finally desegrigate the military. This nations minorities were fighting overseas for freedom and equality when in fact they were not given these freedoms at home. After the war, blacks who had served in the military moved out of the south and sought a better life in the north where they could escape the racial caste system which existed there. Jews were also discriminated here as well as in many other countries. We were eager to condemn Hitler for murder and open persecution, but we did not want to take the Jews off of his hands alive. If you need more info, consult this book: ONeil, W. L. (2002). A Democracy at War: Americas Fight At Home and Abroad In World War II. Cambridge: Harvard University Press. Most of my ideas come from that text, nothing is quoted directly. Hopefully this helps too!

Joan of Arc Essay -- Essays Papers

Joan of Arc Jeanne d’Arc, or La Pucelle, the Maid of Orleans became a national heroine and patron saint of France in the fifteenth century. She was born to Isabelle de Vouthon and Jacques Darc, small peasant farmers in the town of Domremy, near Champagne. She was the youngest of five children, and grew up learning to attend in the fields and housekeeping duties. She was quite skilled in sewing and spinning. Although illiterate, Joan was taught about religion and was known to be a pious child who spent a lot of time in prayer and petition, often kneeling in the church in quiet humility. People in her community thought of Joan as exceptionally advanced and mature for her age and had the reputation of being a tender hearted individual, especially to the poor. At around the age of thirteen, Joan became conscious of these voices or â€Å"counsel† that she heard. These voices were supposedly those of St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret, believing that they had been sent by God. At first, she reported just hearing a voice, later, the voice(s) were accompanied by a figure. She was somewhat reluctant to speak of these voices. It was these voices that revealed her saintly â€Å"mission† gradually, that it was her divine mission to free her country from the English, aid the dauphin gain the French throne, and became certain that she was to go and help the King. It was then she felt urged to present herself to the commander of the King for a neighboring town, Robert Baudr...

Power of Mind

â€Å"The power of the mind† The Human Mind is a very unique gift Heavenly Father has given us. It is the most powerful and precious gift ever given to any living thing that have ever walked and that will yet to walk the earth in the years ahead. The mind alone stands out from anything. It has the power to make the invisible visible and the undoable doable. 100 years back, human kind would never believed nor willing to entertain the idea of traveling from one country to another using the sky as the highway.Fortunately the Wright Brothers envisioned and perceived in their minds the idea of people traveling by air using a different form of transportation known to us today as aeroplanes. The power of their minds made it possible for them to make their idea a reality which of course has contributed so much to the betterment of the lives of people living in their times onwards to this very day. We are very blessed to have minds given to us by our creator to enable us to think and d o the things that our minds are capable of doing. There is no limit to how much we can do when we use our minds to their fullest capacity to make big dreams that seem to be unreachable come to reality. One of the problems that prevents human kind to excel and do extremely well in life is the lack of understanding of the power and capability of their minds. To ensure one does extremely well in life, it is very imperative that there is clear understanding of how mind functions. The mind somehow is very powerful. Whatever accomplishments and achievements some people have made in life were all initiated in the minds as thoughts and ideas. These thoughts and ideas will only come to reality if we allow our minds to entertain such thoughts and ideas for the purpose of achieving positive results that will contribute to the improving of our lives. The mind is just like a plot of land where it does not care what type of plant you plant on. The mind is divided into two parts one is known as the conscious mind and the other is the unconscious mind. The conscious mind’s function is to gather information and ideas. It does not care what comes in and out. However, once we know exactly what to do to allow our conscious minds to gather and process only ideas that will provide countless benefits and advantages to our lives, we will be well on our way to a successful future. The conscious mind picks up ideas and turns them into meaningful ones which then goes to the next phase of the mind known as the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind somehow is the part of our brains that controls ideas and process them in such a way that these ideas and thoughts turn into energy or vibrations connecting to the rest of our body. These vibrations are too strong that they will always force us to perform tasks that will lead to the accomplishment or achievement of the thoughts and ideas we initially conceived in our minds. Mostly what we have in our subconscious minds become our habits. They become paradigms that control every movement and actions we do in our lives. The conscious mind will work day and night to solidify the thoughts and ideas we once have and recognise them as sound ideas and thoughts that we accept as part of our daily living.

But aside from the few mishaps watercolors create, beauty is accomplished after practicing with the spontaneous paint. Watercolor in particular is a transparent and light medium which allows light to bounce off of the paper and reflect through the paint. This then creates this light, airy essence, which is evident in countless watercolor artworks. This transparency is what makes watercolors stand out from other paintings; as layers of a particular color are added, the richness intensifies. The versatility of watercolors allows the paint to create different shades and hues without wasting as much paint as otherShow MoreRelatedTechnology And Its Impact On Art1388 Word s   |  6 Pagessociety, technology and art go hand in hand.
